Overview

Rectangular sheoak piece, the back edge is square with the other three sides rounded, a smaller rectangular piece is fitted to the underside to locate it in the match box holder body.

Historical information

Made by Mr Vernon Marsh of Armadale State School, Third Road Armadale. He completed the object around the ages of 11 and 13. At that time, the school had the only manual arts facilities in the Southern Corridor. An example of Manual Arts projects conducted in the late 1920's in schools to develop hand skills for future use in employment.
