Hollow black cylindrical record wax over metal. White printed text on one end of cylinder. Text includes the title of the work recorded [674. SONG. ASLEEP IN THE DEEP. STANLEY] and makers information.

Historical information

Early 1900s cylinder record for use in a Edison Gem Phonograph.Cylinders played and recorded music and sounds. Cylinder record plays song 'Asleep in the Deep'. Invented by Thomas Edison in the United States of America. Mr Ron Blowes of Thornlie lent the machine to the AHH. Phonograph found in a shed in a rusted condition. Damages caused by white ants to the base and some of the record containers, restored by Barry Blacklow and Guenter Best.
