SHOE BOX TIDY

Overview

Base is rectangular and wider than the shelves, with the front and side edges bevelled. The back is the same width as the three shelves and has domed shaped top with incurved arcs to meet the edge of the shelf frame.

Historical information

Made by Mr Vernon Marsh of Armadale State School. Completed the object between the age of 11 and 13. At that time, Armadale State School was the only school in the Southern Corridor to have a manual arts facility. This shoe box tidy is an example of manual art projects conducted in the late 1920's in schools to develop hand skills for future use in employment.
