Overview

Hollow cylindrical wax record in a cardboard cylinder both ends capped. Case has a great deal of text detailing the patent numbers, the conditions of use and an image of Thomas A Edison. Main text is in red and gold lettering [EDISON / GOLD MOULDED / RECORDS / ECHO ALL / OVER THE WORLD].
White text on one end of record [DUET. WILL YOU BE MY TEDDY BEAR. 9659. Makers information also in white on the end of the record.

Historical information

Cylinder record for use in a Edison Gem Phonograph. Cylinders played and recorded music and sounds. Cylinder record plays song 'Will you be my Teddy Bear'. Invented by Thomas Edison in the United States of America. Mr Ron Blowes of Thornlie lent the machine to the Armadale History House. Phonograph was found in a shed in a rusted condition with damage caused by white ants to the base and some of the record containers. Restored by Barry Blacklow and Guenter Best.
