MARSH Vernon Mr

Overview

Frame composed of four pieces of one inch square section wood which have had the top planed into a peak. They have been notched approximately two inches from the ends and fit together as a square to hold a thin piece of board with a large circular hole in the middle.

Historical information

Made by Mr Vernon Marsh of Armadale State School. Completed between the ages of 11 and 13. At that time, Armadale State School was the only school in the Southern Corridor that had a manual arts facility. This picture frame is an example of manual art projects conducted in the late 1920s in schools to develop hand skills for future use in employment.
