Hollow cylindrical wax record in a cardboard cylinder both ends capped. Case has a great deal of text detailing the patent numbers, the conditions of use and an image of Thomas A Edison. Main text is in green with gold shadow [EDISON / AMBEROL / RECORD / FOUR MINUTE].

Historical information

Cylinder record for use in a Edison Gem Phonograph. Cylinder recorded and played music and sounds. Cylinder record of song 'Let me see you smile'. Invented by Thomas Edison in the United States of America. Mr Ron Blowes of Thornlie lent the machine to Armadale History House. Phonograph was found in a shed in a rusted condition with damage caused by white ants to the base and some of the record containers. Restored by Barry Blacklow and Guenter Best.
