Overview

Postcard with embossed card border on front with machine embroidered silk insert. Designed with a blue vase filled with large red and pink flowers and ‘Happy Christmas” across the bottom in cursive writing. Printed postcard markings on back in black ink and handwritten in pencil a brief personal note.

Historical information

Part of an extensive collection of postcards received by Vera VERGE from her sweetheart Private Edward Charles MOUCHEMORE 6351 who served with the 28th Battalion during the First World War. They met in Albany while attending the same school. Edward was killed in action at Bullecourt, France on 3 October 1918 at the age of 22. The collection was kept by Vera throughout her life and donated to the Princess Royal Fortress by a family member in 2019.
