First World War Embroidered Silk Birthday Card sent from Pte. Edward Charles MOUCHEMORE 6351
c. 1915Birthday Greetings card with embroidered silk insert designed with a red rose and buds including some purple bell flowers. The insert is secured with a pale blue ribbon. Inside is a printed verse and some handwriting.
Part of an extensive collection of postcards received by Vera VERGE from her sweetheart Private Edward Charles MOUCHEMORE 6351 who served with the 28th Battalion during the First World War. They met in Albany while attending the same school. Edward was killed in action at Bullecourt, France on 3 October 1918 at the age of 22. The collection was kept by Vera throughout her life and donated to the Princess Royal Fortress Military Museum by a family member in 2019.
