Overview

Sepia tone photographic postcard of a soldier in uniform seated on a chair looking into the distance with a writing pad on his knee. There is a verse in the top right hand corner and a picture of a young woman in the top left hand corner. There is only the printed markings of a postcard on the back.

Historical information

Part of an extensive collection of postcards received by Vera VERGE from her sweetheart Private Edward Charles MOUCHEMORE 6351 who served with the 28th Battalion during the First World War. They met in Albany while attending the same school. Edward was killed in action at Bullecourt, France on 3 October 1918 at the age of 22. The collection was kept by Vera throughout her life and donated to the Princess Royal Fortress by a family member in 2019.
