Overview

Embroidered silk Christmas card with pink and purple flower design inside gilt like ornate surround. Inside card on left side is a handwritten greeting with printed verse on right side. Inside page secured with pale pink ribbon.

Historical information

Part of an extensive collection of postcards received by Vera VERGE from her sweetheart Private Edward Charles MOUCHEMORE 6351 who served with the 28th Battalion during the First World War. They met in Albany while attending the same school. Edward was killed in action at Bullecourt, France on 3 October 1918 at the age of 22. The collection was kept by Vera throughout her life and donated to the Princess Royal Fortress Military Museum by a family member in 2019.
