Overview

Incomplete postcard with embroidered silk insert and borders but no card backing. Some foxing on the borders and insert. Allied flags represented in the large “1918” embroidered on insert along with “Souvenir de France” in yellow thread. Printed underneath in gold is the word “Remembrance”

Historical information

Part of an extensive collection of postcards received by Vera VERGE from her sweetheart Private Edward Charles MOUCHEMORE 6351 who served with the 28th Battalion during the First World War. They met in Albany while attending the same school. Edward was killed in action at Bullecourt, France on 3 October 1918 at the age of 22. The collection was kept by Vera throughout her life and donated to the Princess Royal Fortress by a family member in 2019.
