c. 1915A sepia-coloured artistic postcard showing a narrow alley way between stone buildings. The alley way passes under an arch that has a building and lattice windows above. One building on the right-hand side has a small balcony Two people can be seen in the distance at the end of the alley. From the clothing at least one appears to be a woman. The postcard has marks on its top left-hand border which show front and back. The reverse has proforma printing and description of the image.
Around 1900, Cairo's "native quarters" referred to the historic, medieval districts of the city, largely corresponding to what is now known as Islamic Cairo and Old Cairo.
