Overview

A sepia-coloured artistic postcard showing an Egyptian man in robes sat on a camel in front of an ornate building. The building has one large dome as well as two minarets and a smaller dome. The large dome has a decorative pattern of ridges. The postcard has a mark on its bottom left-hand border which show front and back. The reverse has proforma printing and description of the image.

Historical information

This image depicts an Egyptian man riding a camel in front of the City of the Dead. The structures behind him are identified as the Tombs of Khalifs located below the Mokattam hills in Cairo. The City of the Dead is a legendary monument housing a series of Islamic cemeteries. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of Historic Cairo.
