First World War Postcard of ‘Egyptian Types and Scenes - Walk Upon Ass’, Egypt

A black and white postcard depicting a woman dressed in full length dark robes and face covering sitting on a white donkey. Behind the donkey is a man dressed in dark robes with a white head covering and bare feet. He has his right hand on the back of the donkey and is carrying a cloth bag on his left shoulder. The donkey is wearing a saddle and reins. The picture is taken outdoors in an open area with a sand / gravel floor. In the background, a statute of a lion is seen sitting on a plinth in front of a building and beyond that is a metal fencelike structure that might be the side of a bridge. The postcard has some damage to the corners and small red mark on the front together with further marks on the reverse. The front is printed with a description of the image, and the reverse is a pale green colour with proforma printing.
