BSHS Prefects 1972

This year has been an eventful, and memorable, one for the prefects of this school. During the early part of our reign, we were called upon to squash several riots due to the exuberant spirits of some students of the school, who seemed to think that flour and eggs could be put to better uses than making cakes. We can also truthfully say that we have done canteen duty every day, and, in general, helped with anything whenever and wherever our services were required.

The above tasks were, however, quite small compared to the magnitude of the task of organizing the Annual School Ball. Before saying anything else though, we would all heartily like to thank Mr. Hill and his art group for the fantastic work they did for us. Anyway, if anybody ever tries to say that Jani is a quiet little girl, then they are sadly misinformed. We found that the most effective method of getting anything done was to have a big fight, let everybody yell their lungs out and the person with the most energy left, did what she thought best. Assemblies, too, were always a big success for us. They gave Greg a chance to show everybody what he was really made of. But maybe the word “success” would be not quite accurate when speaking of one head girl who managed to trip over the cord and knock over the loud-speaker or when speaking of the gentlemen who courageously got up to say the prayer, using their best monotone voices.

However, we can say at least we tried, with the guidance and patience of many people, but chiefly Mrs. Parry, whom we would all like to thank tor putting up with us. So, in concluding, we wish everyone the best of luck for the future, but most especially, all the best for the new Prefects to whom we bequeath our mosquito and rat infested cubby-hole.
