When we were approached to write an article for Kingia about Prefect activities throughout the year we jumped at the opportunity to enlighten all laymen as to just what the Prefects have done. There is not room enough to write of all our achievements, but we shall tell you of the experiences and activities which have been most enjoyable and rewarding to us as individuals and as a Prefect body.
The first incident which comes to mind is the Prefects’ Camp. Most enjoyable to say the least. It was unfortunate that the camp was no longer. The food was AI, the chief cooks being Mrs. Skidmore (and her spaghetti specials) and Miss Lawson (and her ‘aw’ inspiring “Ricebubble Delight’). The early morning jog was run by Mr. Higgins (and was indeed run by Mr. Higgins . . . alone!). He pronounced, “a healthy body is a healthy Prefect”. Thanks to all the above staff and Mr. Isaac for a most enjoyable and enlightening camp.
Next came our numerous socials (including the Fancy Dress Ball). All were most enjoyable and well worth the effort. Thanks to all who attended. Perhaps our most rewarding achievement was the School Ball. It was a tremendous success, with a large number in attendance, and from the feedback, enjoyed by all.
Finally, out thanks go especially to Mr. Higgins for ‘mothering’ us along and putting up with our arguments and internal turmoil. It is very much appreciated. We would like to congratulate all Prefects on a job well done and wish best of luck to next year’s Prefects.
