After we had been left partly endowed by last year’s prefects on the duties and “hard work” involved in being a prefect and with a new liaison officer, Mr. Bennetts, we plunged into our new job.
The first piece of organisation we managed was a prefects camp at Wellington Mills where everyone became acquainted with everyone else and we were placed under the scrutiny of the teachers involved. This was enjoyed by all and thanks go to Mr. Bennetts, Mr. Isaac and Miss Lowden.
Secondly, acting on feedback from last Year twelves, we arranged a twelth year camp. This was held at Binningup camp site and included group activities such as group discussions, sporting events and a concert. This was a great success and future prefects would be well advised to try and include this on their agenda.
Our crazy dress day, encouraged with prizes for best dressed, provided everyone with a laugh and raised our bank balance considerably.
School socials were another part of our duties, including the successful School Ball held at Tarooki Lodge, and provided everybody with a good time and left us with a slightly healthier bank balance. We were able to lower the cost of socials with the use of “Hymo”. “Hymo” is the hi-fi system, which was presented to the school for use at these functions.
Our special thanks go to Mr. Bennetts, without whose help we would never have survived. His organisation and patience were greatly appreciated.
Finally, we wish next year’s prefects the best of luck.
