Historical information

Socials and Nightclubs were the order of the year for the 1992 prefects, resulting in record breaking turnouts and large revenue production.

The beginning of 1992 and cries from the student body for a social echoed throughout the school. Immediately the alert and rather attractive prefect body sprung into action, addressing the issues of where it was to be held, when, costs and whether or not the administration would let us! However, Tessa with a flair briefly absent from the other prefects, suggested Alberts Nightclub and through her vast network of contacts, managed to book Alberts and obtain a great deal for the hire.

This was the beginning of a beautiful relationship as with the socials at Alberts, the days of massive prefect organization were gone. Teacher support, although hesitant at first to subjecting their venerable hearing to the loud teenage music, was of great help with Mr. Davis and Mr. Bleakley more than once manning the doors with flexed biceps and puffed up chests ready to repel any rather aggressive 13 year olds.

Over 300 students attended the two all-school socials and over 400 for the upperschool interschool social. The administration involving Mr. Hill, Mrs. Cantoni, Mr. Wansbrough and Mrs. Talbot were all great supporters of these socials which paved the way to great socials which with the new prefects now elected will continue into 1993. And remember, if you want a social, nag the new prefects!
