Historical information

The prefects of this year have been very busy, to the surprise of some people, and we believe we’ve had a successful year.

Apart from the weekly meetings, where we can discuss our programmes, argue and throw darts, we have endeavoured to carry out many functions throughout the year. The most important occasion of the year was a visit from Prince Charles and as you know, the prefects had the very great honour of leading year groups into the Hands Oval, except for Graeme who represented B.S.H.S. up front. Perhaps another highlight during the year came when Malcolm Fraser came to the School to talk. This however was nothing of our doing, (and we take no blame for it!)

Malcolm Fraser and Prince Charles vanish into insignificants, however, when we recall the Prefects’ Camp, held at Wellington Mills early in the year. Here we learnt
how to talk in public, be a chairman and a prefect, and I sure that the Wellington Mills Cricket Club will remain close to our hearts for many years.

The year 11 & 12 Fun Day held in the first term was another prefect co-ordinated project which deserves mention, as does the School Ball. Both were a great success. Perhaps the only flop this year was the quiz night held in aid of Country Week, but as we all say, “nothing ventured, nothing gained”.

If at the Ball students noticed some strange people, then this can be explained quite easily. They were most likely Grammar School or Newton Moore students, (though Bunbury possesses a few strange people).

Finally the prefects would like to thank Mr Bennets and Miss Melling for their enormous help throughout the year, and also the students. Thank you.
