Overview

Black and white photographic postcard of an aerial view of the city of Angers in France. It is on the banks of the river Maine. There is a bridge over the river and the Cathedral is in the centre of the photograph. The usual postcard markings and some staining on the back.

Historical information

Part of an extensive collection of postcards received by Vera VERGE from her sweetheart Private Edward Charles MOUCHEMORE 6351 who served with the 28th Battalion during the First World War. They met in Albany while attending the same school. Edward was killed in action at Bullecourt, France on 3 October 1918 at the age of 22. The collection was kept by Vera throughout her life and donated to the Princess Royal Fortress by a family member in 2019.
