c. 1917Black and white printed postcard showing a large inn with a horse drawn carriage and a donkey drawn cart. There are several adults and children posing for the photo. The inn has a tile roof, two chimneys and shutters on all the windows. On the back is a short, handwritten note in pencil.
Part of an extensive collection of postcards received by Vera VERGE from her sweetheart Private Edward Charles MOUCHEMORE 6351 who served with the 28th Battalion during the First World War. They met in Albany while attending the same school. Edward was killed in action at Bullecourt, France on 3 October 1918 at the age of 22. The collection was kept by Vera throughout her life and donated to the Princess Royal Fortress by a family member in 2019.
