Overview

First World War souvenir booklet of black and white photographic detachable postcards of the town of Albert in Northern France post war. Decorative front cover in red and black ink. Some barely discernible handwritten script in pencil on front cover.

Historical information

Part of an extensive collection of postcards received by Vera VERGE from her sweetheart Private Edward Charles MOUCHEMORE 6351 who served with the 28th Battalion during the First World War. They met in Albany while attending the same school. Edward was killed in action at Bullecourt, France on 3 October 1918 at the age of 22. The collection was kept by Vera throughout her life and donated to the Princess Royal Fortress Military Museum by a family member in 2019.
