First World War Postcard ‘To one I Love’ sent from Pte. Edward Charles MOUCHEMORE, 6351
1917Sepia tone photographic postcard showing a soldier sitting at a desk with some papers and about to light a pipe. There is a verse at the top and a young woman looking down at the soldier. On the back there is a handwritten letter over the printed postcard markings.
Part of an extensive collection of postcards received by Vera VERGE from her sweetheart Private Edward Charles MOUCHEMORE 6351 who served with the 28th Battalion during the First World War. They met in Albany while attending the same school. Edward was killed in action at Bullecourt, France on 3 October 1918 at the age of 22. The collection was kept by Vera throughout her life and donated to the Princess Royal Fortress by a family member in 2019.
