1915Continuous Certificate of Discharge service book issued to Raymond Parker WARBURTON. Black hard cover book with 26 pages. Cover shows in gold an encircled “Board of Trade” logo, topped with royal crown, underneath a rectangle shaped cut out of the hard cover revealing the seaman’s name, ‘WARBURTON’, which is handwritten in red ink. And beneath embossed in gold lettering “No. 882058” / “Continuous / Certificate of Discharge”. Page 26 has a black and white portrait photograph affixed of WARBURTON in seaman’s uniform, with a blue oval shaped stamp of “M.M. Office / Mar, 1918 / Tilbury”, stamped across top right corner of photograph.

Details
This “Continuous Certificates of Discharge”, service book was issued to Raymond Parker WARBURTON whilst he was a Merchant Seaman serving on ‘H.M.T. Pera’ and ‘SS Shropshire’, during the First World War. The first entry shows Raymond registered for duty in London on the 01/12/1915, aboard ‘HMT Pera’ as an Electrician. The Pera was torpedoed and sunk in the Mediterranean Sea on the 19/10/1917. Raymond later transferred to the ship, ‘SS Shropshire’ on the 19/12/1917. The last entry details Raymond’s discharge on the 13/06/1919 at Sydney, Australia.
