Return Services League (RSL) Lapel Badge as issued to Raymond Parker WARBURTON
1980Metallic badge with enamel sections depicting a white shield with a red and gold coloured crown and the number "80" at the top of the shield. In the centre a depiction of three (3) figures; Navy, Army and Airforce servicemen within a blue circle with the words "Returned Services League". In the top corners of the shield are images of a leek, rose, thistle and shamrock. An image of a red ribbon with the words "Australia" is at the base of the shield.

This RSL Membership Badge issued to Raymond WARBURTON has a “80” in centre of crown at top which indicates a financial member in 1980. Raymond was employed as an Electrical Engineer on the transport ship HMAT Pera. He officially boarded in Melbourne on the 18/10/1914 and sailed to Albany Western Australian, where the ship joined with the first convoy amassed in King George Sound and all left Australian shores on the 01/11/1914. During the First world War Raymond served on 2 transport ships, the HMAT Pera and the SS Shropshire. Raymond was discharged on the 13/06/1919 at Sydney, Australia. In May 1941, during the Second World War, Raymond, at 50 years of age, enlisted in the Voluntary Defence Corps, 7th Battalion, Army No. N318240. He was listed as an Electrical Fitter and at his own request was discharged on the 17/08/1944.
