Photograph taken on the deck of SS Pera. (see similar photograph 2025.2.14, which includes inscription on the rear). Photograph has remnants of brown paper where it has been glued onto a page.
Raymond Parker WARBURTON was employed as an Electrical Engineer on board the HMAT A4 Pera, a transport ship owned by P&O London, which was leased by the Commonwealth during the First World War. He served on the ‘Pera’ between 01/12/1915 and 09/09/1917 and later transferred onto the ‘SS Shropshire’ and served until the 13/06/1919. The ‘Pera’ was torpedoed and sunk in the Mediterranean Sea on the 19/10/1917.
