About organisation
The Busselton Historical Society manages the Busselton Museum, which is housed in the heritage-listed Old Butter Factory. The Museum's collection on display in the premises is representative of the local area's history, and we believe it contains over 20,000 items.
Society members (volunteers) are currently digitising the large collection of artefacts in order to make them available to the public via Collections WA and Trove. With such a large collection, this will take some time before all artefacts are accessioned.

Collection overview
The Busselton Museum, housed in the historic Old Butter Factory on Peel Terrace, officially opened its doors to the public on January 18, 1975. Prior to becoming a museum, the site operated as a state-run dairy factory that opened in 1918 and functioned until its closure in 1973. After being handed over to the local shire, the Busselton Historical Society transformed the building into the popular local heritage archive that visitors see today.
