First World War Postcard of 'Sunset at the Pyramids at Giza', Egypt
1900 - 1919A black and white artistic postcard depicting a distant view of three pyramids from across water. There are several palm trees in the foreground and the pyramids are framed by these.
The postcard is in very good condition with no damage. The left edge has perforations that suggest it was separated from another card. The front is printed with a description of the image, and the reverse has proforma printing.
This image depicts the three pyramids of Giza with the River Nile in flood in the foreground. The pyramids of Giza are among the most popular tourist destinations in the world, Each of these spectacular structures served as the final resting place of a king of the 4th Dynasty (c.2613–2494 BC). The Great Pyramid of Giza was built for king Khufu (c.2589–2566 BC), and the other two for Khafre and Menkaure, his son and grandson.
