BSHS Prefects 1989

Being a prefect and surviving it is one thing. Doing a good job is another. Contrary to popular opinion, we, the infamous 1989 Prefects, believe that we have done both. Our achievements speak for themselves.

There were our highly successful hot-cross buns, for Easter (even though we were double-crossed by the staff who bought them on the black market) and who could ever forget the BIG BASH - our one and only whole-school social? It was so good you didn't need another one!

Of course everybody's favourite was "The Black Tie Affair" ("the ball" to those of you who are too indifferent to have taken any notice of our extensive advertising campaign). The wonderful experience was enhanced by the cosy conditions and the floorshow provided by some of the staff members.

Other mentionables include our involvement in the Red Cross and Salvation Army doorknock appeals, our much appreciated originality in the design of a graduation cardigan; and our consistency in the organization of general prefect business.

It would be untruthful to say that we had done all this ourselves; of course we were Sleightly advantaged by our fearless and persistent YEO who helped us out of (and occasionally into) a few rough spots.

We conclude by saying we wouldn't have missed the experience of being prefect for the world (unless of course someone else thinks they could have done a better job).
