BSHS Prefects 1988

Looking back through my old Kingias and reflecting on my past years, a concerning trend becomes apparent.

! PEOPLE AREN'T COMING TO SOCIALS !

Is it an image problem, of turning up to a school social? Aren't we trendy enough for some people? For as long as I can remember school socials have been fun . . . great fun . . . get a group of friends going and have a rage, thrash, whatever. But with decreasing attendance figures and low support this is a problem that must be looked at.

BUT THIS IS NOT A PUT OFF!!

For all those people who did turn up, their enthusiasm was great, participation in themes outstanding and music was unreal. For the second time only, a live band, “Who’s Who”, played at our school with music from bands such as Crowded House, Talking Heads, Midnight Oil and originals from their forthcoming album. A lower school social had been held previously with an extremely successful theme of dress as the ‘opposite sex' and eager participants in games. For both of these socials everyone enjoyed themselves both being ragey and unreal fun.

For anyone who knows why socials are uncouth for the minority, drop in and tell the '89 prefects — because there are people who are really missing out.
