Historical information

After being elected to the Prefect Body for 1990, we finished 1989 off with a Year 8 social. This was to be the first of a series of planned events.

In the second week of school this year we packed our bags and headed off to the Prefect Camp which was a time for fun and friendship - and a lot of work! In this time we put up a variety of ideas and from these set our goals for 1990.

First on the agenda was the Year 8 Camp which gave us the chance to practice our leadership skills and make ourselves known. We also held a lower school social which was a great success.

Nearing Easter, we sold hot cross buns (those we didn’t eat!) and had an Easter egg
raffle to get everyone into the holiday spirit. Prior to the holidays we held a normal Anzac Service at school. We also represented the school at the town service on Anzac Day.

During the year we supported the Red Cross and Salvation Army in their annual doorknock appeals. We also sold red noses on Red Nose Day in an effort to help raise money for SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) research.

Our major achievement of the year was the Upper School Ball. Everybody was dressed beautifully and helped to make the night a great success. The ball featured the band “FACES”, a floorshow and a delicious supper which was all complimented by our wonderful “White Winter” decorations. Special thanks to all those who helped in our preparations.

A highlight of our social activities was to represent the school in the Dragon Boat Race during the long weekend of the “Aqua Spectacular”. A rigorous training programme (two fairly unorganized sessions), paid off and we came first to collect the prize of a Hungry Jacks whopper, fines and coke. Well done, crew!

1990 for us, has been a time where tempers have flared and patience has run out, but through it all we have emerged as one group working together. We have gained close ties within the group, making friendships that will last a lifetime.

We'd like to thank everybody who has helped us in our various activities throughout the year. We wish everybody the best for a successful future.

Simmone, Ashley, Susan, Marcus, Denise, Michael, Tanya, Rick, Nikki and Ben.
