Socially, 1967 has been a very successful year for the prefects. The socials (mostly held in the R.S.L. hall with the “Southern Swing Commission” providing the music) were well attended and (we hope) enjoyed by all. Such minor incidents as having no cool drinks, bottle opener, milk or supper room, failed to mar the occasions.
The highlight of our social calendar was the school ball — with a way-out Outer Space theme. (Leonardo da Woodsie proved to be of invaluable assistance in preparing the decoration). Our sincere thanks go to Mr. Rendell, Mrs. Fowler and other staff members who helped us so much. Mr. Rendell must be especially congratulated on his spectacular trapeze act (Pulleys do jam you know).
The new organisation of assemblies has proved, for most of us, to be a nerve-racking ordeal. It was too much for Glenys—she had to go. This year we replaced the traditional “pre’s’ teas” with Bar-B-Q’s, at Trainers’ and Scotts’ farms. These have been a tremendous success. (Not everyone goes chasing rabbits at midnight, or, better still, has the chance to see a live “Kommotion”!).
At the end of first term we visited the Collie High pre’s and were conducted on a tour of the Collie district before having a discussion (?) with them on their position in the school. On returning, we were consoled by the thought that perhaps we weren’t the least conscientious prefects.
In closing, we, the 1967 prefects, would like to wish all Junior and Leaving candidates success in the coming exams, next year’s prefects success (and fun) in their positions, and thank all staff members for the help they have given us during the year.
Goodbye and good luck.
