A few weeks after the commencement of school this year, we headed off to Point Peron, to participate in a Prefect Camp with eight other schools from the South West.
At the camp we managed to set a good example for the other Prefects to follow, firstly, by arriving only two hours late to camp, and secondly, coming last in the game of Nitty Gritty and having to organise a social for later on that evening. WELL DONE GUYS!!!!
Our first opportunity to do something for the school was the Year Eight Camp, giving us the chance to practice our leadership skills. This was a very hard task as this particular Year 8 group made themselves known for their cheeky behaviour, but alas, we Prefects arrived to set them straight.
Also, in term one, we held a whole school social which broke all previous records in student attendance. The students enjoyed themselves and danced the night away to the music played by the Reeds and Redbax.
One of the most favoured events on the Prefect calendar was the selling of the Hot Cross Buns and the Easter Egg Raffle, which were both a huge success. We also conducted a few cake stalls throughout the year.
1991 for the Prefects has been a beneficial experience. Friendships were gained between people who usually didn't associate together and we all emerged as a group who will always remain friends, never forgetting the experiences we shared this year.
We would like to send a BIG thank you to Paul Sleight (the famous YEO) and to Allison Burnett whose help was invaluable.
All of the money accumulated by these various events enabled the Prefects to put on the most spectacular evening on August 3rd in the form of the Upper School Ball.
The Ball featured the band FACES, a great floorshow and a delicious supper (who said it was quality, not quantity, that counts!) Everyone was overawed with our fantastic decorations, which supported the theme of the night "A Night of Dance".
During the year we supported the Salvation Army and the Red Cross in their Annual Doorknock Appeals. We also sold red noses and badge to help SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) raise money for research.
