WOODTURNING TOOL CUSTOMIZED BY JACK DE VOS

Overview

A long, circular, hardwood handle, tapering towards the base, and moulded to make it comfortable to hold. It appears to be handmade.It has a rectangular blade, with a curved hook for turning. The pointed base of the blade fits into a slot in the handle, so different blades would be interchangeable.

Jack was a prolific wood turner, who worked from his studio in Wungong, turning out many pieces of sculpture. This tool's handle was made by Jack De Vos and the blade customized by him to perform a particular function.

ack de Voss (1942-2017) was a prolific self taught and international known wood turner, who worked from his studio in Wungong, turning out many pieces of sculpture. He won a variety of awards for his work and his work feature in a variety of public and private collections. His work was inspired by his love of the Western Australian bush and his faith in God.
