Overview

A dark brown, worn cover ,with text along the spine. Inside the front cover, which is very fragile, there are the remains of a newspaper cutting entitled [Here is the Divine testimony], also some loose sheets of paper with text, and four tickets from, Fremantle Municipal Transport, numbered 505253/4/5 and 000033.The binding is broken, there is a loose page in the break. All the pages have a gilt edging.

This bible was presented to the Reverend Gersham Morris on 25 June 1934 as a gift from his congregation to commemorate his three years working in the community/ Morris ministered to members of the Congregational Church in Armadale, Kelmscott, Roleystone and Bedfordale.

Statement of significance

The bible was presented to the Rev. Gersham Morris by the Armadale, Bedfordale, Kelmscott, and Roleystone,Congregational Churches, on the occasion of the closing of his three years as minister in Armadale, on the 25th. June 1934. Morris valued the book greatly and continued to use it throughout his career, in both rural and country W.A., then handed in down to the family. The bible also represents the size and extent of the Congregational Church in the local district.
