Overview

A long, circular, hardwood handle, tapering towards the base, which has a darker wooden knob on the end . It appears to be handmade and has [Jack de Vos] engraved on it and a copper coloured ring around the top.It has a circular blade, with a groove cut into one side and the end is ground to a point. Makers make stamped onto the blade.

Historical information

Jack was a prolific wood turner, who worked from his studio in Wungong, turning out many pieces of sculpture. This tool's handle was made by Jack De Vos and the blade customized by him to perform a particular function.

Jack de Voss (1942-2017) was a prolific self taught and international known wood turner, who worked from his studio in Wungong, turning out many pieces of sculpture. He won a variety of awards for his work and his work feature in a variety of public and private collections. His work was inspired by his love of the Western Australian bush and his faith in God.
