c. 1920 - 1929Varnished wooden rectangular box, with one half of the upper surface open, the other half a board with three bakelite knobs and 2 small scre and & bolts to which the cord of the headphones are attached. In between the screws is printed: TELEPHONE. Width-wise the box is divided into two with one hinged and e & one with metal hooks and knobs to keep parts together. The lower half is empty, the other half holds the wireless mechanisms. The aluminium headphones have a bakelite receiver (ear-part) and are attached to the box by a cord. Impressed on this part of the equipment is "Made in England". [This type of radio receiver was made in the 1920's before the advent of radio valves. Tuning induction is made by sliding-coil rather than the later invention of variable condenser.
