PHOTOGRAPH: FLECKER'S AMBULANCE

Overview

The photograph features a group of men posing at the side of the ambulance. There are five men seated in a semi-circle at the front, three are standing behind their chairs and two are seated on the ambulance coach (including Mr Hayes). The insignia of 'Subiaco Ambulance' appears on the side of the vehicle, with 'Flecker' painted on the side above the wheel. Paddy the horse is harnessed to the ambulance. The photograph was taken in a backyard next to a shed. There are watering cans and various containers next to the shed door. The men are all wearing suits, with white shirts and high collars. Lights are mounted on either side of the front of the ambulance. Neighbouring houses are shown in the background. The handwritten inscription on the back reads: 'Fleckers Ambulance: Ratepayers and residents gave generously and an ambulance to serve the community's needs was purchased. Paddy, the multi-purpose horse, gave loyal service. Mr Hayes is holding the reins.'
