Historical information

Born in South Australia, Leonard was the son of George and Lousia Cargeeg. Educated at Perth Boys and Scotch College WA, he became an accountant.

The Cargeeg Family first lived in Adelaide Tce and later Stirling Street, Perth, before purchasing The Grange in 1907. They subsequently sold parts of the large property through 'Cargeeg Bros Real Estate' which was a business belonging to sons Harold and Garfield and then in 1913, exchanged 11 acres for a farming property Parkfield for sons Victor and Reginald

Leonard and his brother Garfield were partners in a shop in Greenbushes. In 1908 Leonard bought a shop from Grace Brothers and married their sister Mary Sarah Grace. The couple had children: Vera, George, Grace, Harold, Maybelle (Polly) and Frank.

He sold the shop (in Pingelly?) c1915 to run the business side of the family farm Parkfield after brothers, Vic and Reg were overseas due to WWI. He also enlisted for service in WWI but was rejected due to health problems.
