CARGEEG, LEN AND VICTOR

His hands are behind his back, and he is wearing a workmanlike open-necked shirt with sleeves rolled, and dark trousers with a belt. His brother, Len Cargeeg, on the right, has a moustache and short hair. His arms are folded and he is wearing a white shirt, spotted tie and dark trousers with a belt.
Leonard was the son of Mr & Mrs G.H. Cargeeg of Parry Street, Swanbourne. Born in South Australia. Educated at Perth Boys and Scotch College WA, he became an accountant. He and his brother Garfield were partners in a shop in Greenbushes. In 1908 Leonard bought a shop from Grace Brothers and married their sister Mary Sarah Grace. He sold the shop (in Pingelly?) c1915 to run the business side of the family farm Parkfield near Australind after brothers, Vic and Reg were overseas. He enlisted for service in WWI but was rejected due to health problems. Died in 1923 at the age of 39, as the result of an accident there. Albert Victor Cargeeg was born in Adelaide. Son of Mr. And Mrs. G H Cargeeg. Known as 'Victor', 'Selway' was mother's family name. Attended Perth Boys School and Scotch College, WA, and then agricultural college in South Australia. Ran a high class dairy herd on family property Parkfield. He enlisted as a Private on August 17, 1914. Participated in the landing at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915 in the machine gun section of 11th Battalion, D Company. He was killed in action on 1 August 1915 while fighting for Leane's Trench.
