PORTRAIT OF IVY GUNN AND WILL OF RUPERT GUNN
1915Sepia prints of postcard. (a) Studio portrait of Ivy Gunn. A slim young woman, she is dressed in a long-sleeved, slim-fitting, light, ankle length dress with tiered skirt, lace trim and a wide dark belt. She is wearing low- heeled dark shoes and stockings. Her long dark hair is parted and softly swept into a ribbon at the back of her neck and then onto her shoulder. She holds a bunch of long-stemmed artificial flowers in her right hand. (b) Handwritten on the rear of the postcard is the will of her brother, Rupert. [If anything happens to me/ driver R.G. Gunn 10th A L H R/ 3 Brigade would finder of Pocket/ Books. Ivy Gunn was born in Ballarat, Victoria in 1894. Her parents were John William Gunn and Jane Hannington and had brothers, Alick and Rupert who both served in WWI. The Gunn Fmaily lived on Griver street, Cottelsoe.
Ivy married Cornelius Stanley Lorraine Gillies in 1923. Children Lorraine Marjory (b. 1923), Patricia Irene (b.1924), Jean Alma (b.1926), Lesley Elizabeth (b.1927) and Louise Winnifred (b.1932).
The family moved to Nailsworth Street, Lornaine Cottesloe and then at 32 Subiaco Road.
Rupert George Gunn was the son of William Gunn and Jane Hannington. He was born in Ballaratt, Victoria and moved with his family to Griver Street, Cottesloe.
Married Mary Elizabeth McKoe in 1909 and lived in Brisbane Terrace, Perth.
During the First World War, he served in the 10th Light Horse and carried a postcard of his sister, Ivy, on which he wrote his will.
