History of the Australian Air League from their website
Australian Air League collar badge
c. 1940Silver coloured metal badge with dark blue enamel writing and light and dark blue enamel logo. It is mostly circular with the lower section bordered by a wreath and the upper area having two wings either side of the centre, with a small shield between them. The initials 'AAL' are in the centre in large dark blue font and the motto of the AAL, 'A vinculo Terrae', is at the bottom in silver on a dark blue scroll background. The motto translates to “Free from the bonds of the Earth”.
The maker's name is impressed on the back of the badge. There are two brass split pins which fit through the two lugs on the reverse for attachment.
The Australian Air League (AAL) is a not-for-profit, civilian operated aviation youth organisation in Australia.
