1st Anti-Aircraft Comforts Fund enamel badge

1940 - 1942
Overview

World War Two era metal and enamel badge sold to raise money for the 1st Anti-Aircraft Comforts Fund.
It features a circular centre with the colour patch of the 1st Australian Anti Aircraft Brigade (1940 to 1942) in the middle. This is an equilateral triangle with halves of blue and red on an axis pointing to the lower left corner, inside a broad silver grey border. It is surrounded by dark blue enamel.
Either side of the sloping edges of the colour patch are horizontal sections of metal with pointed ends which are also in dark blue enamel with silver metallic writing.
The reverse of the badge is plain silver coloured metal and shows the maker's name (Amor, Sydney). The badge has a pointed metal pin which fits into a curved slot for attachment.

Historical information

This badge was produced to raise funds to provide comforts for a specific unit - 1st Australian Anti Aircraft Brigade rather than for the troops in general (Australian Comforts Fund) or for those from a particular state (Fighting Forces Comforts Fund of South Australia).
The 1st Australian Anti Aircraft Brigade was formed in April 1940 and served in the Middle East with the 2nd Australian Imperial Force (A.I.F.).
