Australian Air League fundraising badge on card
c. 1940Circular tin-backed, celluloid badge produced to raise funds for the Australian Air League. The badge is still attached to the card backing and explains the purpose of the fundraising.
The attached badge has white writing on a dark blue background. In the centre is the logo - outstretched wings either side of a shield containing an image of a plane in flight. Below that is the motto ''To defend, to develop', the price of the badge (5 shillings) and the distribution details.
The reverse has a metal pin which encircles the edge of the badge before ending in a point which can be pushed through clothing for attachment.
