Photo album associated with the Australian Air League, Girls Section, Leichhardt Company,
It has blue cloth covers with gilt writing. The name of the photographer, Julia Leslie, is written on the front cover.
It contains 27 photographs. The first page features a portrait of Miss E. Butt, the Company Commander, the second page shows the six Company Officers, and the remaining pages show the 21 female cadets.
The images are in black and white and there has been some silvering due to age.

Historical information

The Australian Air League (a youth organisation specialising in aviation) was established in 1934, with the first training Squadron opened in January 1935.
The Girls' Section wasn't officially set up until 1944, although some of the branches reportedly had a flight of girls from as early as October 1935.
This album dates to the early days. The portraits within were taken by Julia Leslie, a British photographer who moved to Sydney and was active between 1937-1946.
