HARDANGER, TEA CLOTH
This attractive teacloth, stitched beautifully in hardanger technique by Margaret Arandle, who was a Guild tutor and leader of the Guild’s Belmont Group in the 1990s. She also worked at shop Stitchers Corner in East Victoria Park. This teacloth was on display on a small table at the front counter.
Embroidery design is in four sections. Centre square is Kloster blocks with eyelets in centre. Beyond this design square outlined in Kloster block with eyelets and filled with squares of woven bars with dove’s eye centres.
The third band, again Kloster blocks filled with eyelets and squares with woven bars, but no dove’s eye filling.
The fourth band has a geometric cross stitch design worked in ecru stranded cotton worked on a band of Aida weave.
Neat hem stitched hems with mitred corners.
