LACE, KNITTING, MAT
Early 20th century finely knitted lace doyley, called ‘fairy knitting’, made in Busselton, W.A. by the aunt of the donor who is a Guild member.
The 6 pointed petalled flower illustrates fine knitting with fine cotton on circular needles.
This design “Coronet” was from the book ‘First Book of MODERN LACE KNITTING’ by Marianne Kinzel page 59.
A second knitted doyley, #2023.116, has been adapted from this design and has a more open appearance having been worked on finer needles.
