LACE, KNITTING, MAT
Mid 20th century delightful knitted lace doyley, made in Busselton, W.A. by the aunt of the donor, a Guild member.
The delicate lace design with central star and surrounding hearts illustrates intricate lace knitting called “fairy knitting” on circular needles with fine white cotton.
The pattern “VALENTINE” Design is in the book ‘First Book of MODERN LACE KNITTING’ by Marianne Kinzel, pages 61-62. The outer edge has a crochet finish as illustrated on page 23.
