MILES SARAH NEE GALLOP
c. 1880B/W print of sepia studio portrait. The woman, who is standing with her right arm resting on a cabinet, is wearing a dark outfit with long-sleeved, boned bodice finished with lace at collar and cuffs. The long skirt has fullness at the back finishing in a short train. Her hair is parted in the centre and smoothed back under a decorative bonnet.
Sarah Gallop ws the daughter of James Gallop and Elizabeth Spencer. She married William Warden Miles in 1871, a sea captain who sailed the NW coast and was lost at sea.Daughter was Elizabeth Gallop Cyclone Miles and Son George Miles. Sarah lived at Loma Street, Cottelsoe before she passed away. Original photos were in a family bible on loan to the Museum.
