B/W prints (a) Studio portrait of a curly-haired, barefooted Barbara Kitchen at the age of about 12 months. She is wearing a long-sleeved, light-coloured dress with lace trim to the bodice. She is seated on a carved, wooden bench. (b) Head and shoulders studio portrait of Frederick William and Barbara Koeppe (nee Mannix). He has neatly brushed hair and trimmed moustache and is wearing a dark jacket with white shirt and loose tie. She has curled hair and is wearing a high-necked, light coloured bodice. Across the bottom of the print is [J. von Petz].

Historical information

Frederick Koeppe opened a general store at junction of Leura Ave & Stirling Highway. He later moved the business to the corner of Bay View Tce and Sitrlng Highway. Frederick married Barbara Mannix in England/Ireland (uncertain) before moving to Australia. They had a daughter Catherine Dora who was the Mother of Barbara in photo (a).
